My Little Box | March

March marks my first foray into the world of beauty boxes and I actually could not be more excited! I've known about them for a while, and lusted over basically every unboxing post I've seen bloggers post, I think they are one of my favourites to read. Before now I've just never gotten round to actually subscribing, it's one of those things that's always been in the back of my head to do. But I forced myself this month, and this is the result. Welcomes to March's My Little Box!

I spent a while deciding which box to subscribe to, and I might change again in a couple months. There's so much choice, and I did a lot of research (aka, I spent far too much time reading every unboxing post I couid). There are some truly incredible boxes out there, and I wish I could subscribe to every single one, but I eventually settled for My Little Box. I fell in love with it the first time I saw it, I love the name and the packaging and the variety of content. So now I've waffled enough, on with the box!

This month's box is the My Little Superbox, which I got super excited about. It's focused on products which help you release your inner superhero, and I could definitely do with finding mine. In the box I received you get two good sized product samples, and a full sized makeup item, alongside a t-shirt, some stickers, and a magazine. There's not as many product samples as in some beauty boxes, but what you do get is good sized and good value, and I really like the addition of the t-shirt.

The products come in this cute little drawstring bag, which will come in handy at some point I am sure (sanitary towel holder, makeup bag, emergency chocolate bag...gotta be good for something).

Inside the bag I got a tube of Caudelie's Hand and Nail cream 30ml, usually £12 for 75ml. I've never used anything from Caudelie before, but I've heard good things about them, and I'm excited to see if this helps with my dry hands any better than my normal S&G Hand Food.

I also received a 75ml sample of the Lait Cristal from Kerastase Cristalliste's haircare range, usually £20 for 200ml. I've never heard of this brand before, and I definitely cannot pronounce their name, but it looks pretty good. The Lait Cristal is a rinse out hair mask type thing that's meant to make your locks silky smooth and luscious. I've not used it yet but I'm hoping for good things!

The makeup item is a Lips & Cheeks Pencil by My Little Beauty, £10.50. This is such a gorgeous peachy matte shade that is just perfect for spring. It isn't very opaque, but is a lovely subtle shade on the lips and cheeks, bringing a beautiful glow to your face. I very much love this shade, and am excited to add it to my stash because I don't have anything similar to this. A dual product also works quite nicely when I'm travelling.

Finally, I got this pretty heather grey t-shirt with the 'I Believe I Can Fly' quote on the front, which I really love. It sells for £29 I believe, and this one comes in one size only. It's a pretty decent size that would more than likely be massive on someone slender, but (I'm hoping) fits quite nicely on the curvier lady aka me. I also like the addition of the stickers (£4).

Overall, very very impressed with this box. The My Little Box subscription costs £10 plus postage, but if you quote FIRSTBOX you should be able to get your first box for £11, saving around £3.95, which is a lovely deal. I can't wait to see what I get next month!

February Favourites 2015

Bit of a mixed bag in terms of favourites this month! I've been loving so many different things, so this is just a little selection of stuff that I have really really loved during February, ft experimenting with a new blog photos background (I think I prefer them like this? Let me know your thoughts! Trying to find a decent background in my room is not the easiest let me tell you!). Anyway, commence with the favourites!

Beauty wise this month, there are four products that I find myself reaching for and completely adoring on a daily basis, three of which are newer finds but definitely deserve their place. Like the rest of the world and his wife, I have been loving the Roller Lash mascara by Benefit, which launched properly last week and I immediately snapped up my full size version. I love this mascara as I am sure you are aware of by now, and will always recommend it to anyone with short stubby lashes like my own (that is, until I find an even better mascara!) It's not cheap, retailing at £19.50, but it does a bloody good job.

Face wise this month I have been in love with my new MAC studio fix powder and foundation in NC15, which retails at £21.50 and I literally adore. For touch ups during the day, nothing beats my trusty Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot blotting powder, which I believe is around £12 but worth every single penny, I haven't found a better powder for the price which gets rid of all shine without being cakey and really visible. Lastly for beauty, I have been loving the Makeup Revolution ultra blush palette in Hot Spice, which is so beautiful and I am actually in love with every shade.

In terms of other loves, all the lovely chocolate brands have released their Easter chocolates and I actually couldn't be happier! Easter chocolate is my favourite chocolate, all the Maltesers Bunnies and caramel Creme Eggs and ordinary Creme Eggs and ooo I am so excited for the next few months and stuffing my face!

Along the same vein but way healthier, I have been drinking a lot of Nina's Savse Super Orange, which is my favourite juice because it tastes so very lovely and I buy it from Boots, so I also get my advantage card points! Oh Boots, we will never be split up from each other.

I have also been loving everything rose gold at the moment! I picked up this beautiful rose gold purse from New Look when I went to London, and I love the colour so much. I also have the most beautiful rose gold fairy necklace, and keep getting distracted by admiring the Zoeva rose gold brushes online! Unfortunately, they are a little out of my budget at the moment, but a girl can definitely dream. Right?

Finally, I have been loving William Blake's Songs of Innocence and Experience, which I'm actually studying in literature at the moment. I love the Romantic movement and the Romantic poets, but the poems in Blake's Songs collection are some of my favourites, criticising parts of society that are still very relevant today. I bow down to you sir.

That's everything for this month's favourites! I can't believe how quickly February went by, it feels like I blinked at the end of January and now we're here! Downhill slope to exams now, definitely looking forward to that. Anything you're looking forward to now spring has sprung?

Everyday Makeup Routine!

Now, I'm pretty sure the whole world and his wife has done some kind of everyday makeup post, but I am obviously a sheep, so here is mine! As you are probably aware of by now, I am quite possibly the laziest person on the planet, and as much as I love doing my makeup and making myself look like an acceptable human being, it's often not worth the extra half an hour in bed. I do love my nest! But recently I played around with what I had, and worked out a makeup routine that literally takes me about five minutes, if that, and looks lovely and me look way better.

I am quite lucky in that I have fairly clear skin without much work or thousands of products shoved onto it, and though I do have the occasional rogue spot or blackhead outbreak, I can generally control it easily. This means I don't actually need to wear foundation for a pretty flawless base, which makes my makeup routine 3x faster and I only use around five products, and sometimes a lipstick or lipgloss. Obviously, depending on how much time I have and the state of my skin this routine varies, and I will put foundation on, or take the time to fill in my brows, but that's only if I'm going out or something special is happening.

All I do in the mornings is put my concealer (currently I am using the FIT Me Maybelline concealer in shade 15: fair) on the bags under my eyes and any blemishes that I have, and blend with the Real Techniques contour brush. I then dust my elf translucent matte powder (cost me £3.95 and is the best powder I have ever used) over the top to reduce the shine on my horrifically oily skin, and then brush my MAC blusher in shade well dressed over my cheeks and around my jawline, et voila, my base is done! All I do then is occasionally line my eyes with my Benefit They're Real Push up Liner, and I always wear mascaras. I tend to stick to Maybelline mascaras, and am using mostly the Maybelline Colossal Go Extreme Mascara in Leather Black, and sometimes I use it in combination with the Maybelline Big Eyes Mascara. I love love love both of these mascaras, and the teeny tiny brush that comes on the Big Eyes mascara is so useful on my bottom lashes, and the bigger brush does a good job of separating my lashes.

Then I throw my powder brush and powder compact into whatever bag I'm using, occasionally add a slick of lipgloss or lipstick and I'm good to go! Looking human with minimal effort.

Bloglovin!

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

So in order for people to easily follow me (hah) and mostly for me to easily follow people, I have most definitely jumped on the Bloglovin bandwagon way after most people are probably over it, but there we go. I'm late to pretty much everything in life, things are not going to change on this blog, not for no man! Anyway, my Bloglovin link is there if you wish to follow, I will provide tea and cake if you do like a proper hostess.
